Jamboree Alternative - New England - August 2022

Jamboree Alternate Trip to New England - Planning Underway

After discussion, the traveling camporee committee is offering an alternative adventure instead of the
cancelled National Jamboree for 2021. If there is enough interest, we will plan a traveling camping trip
to New England. This will be a 9-day trek Saturday, August 6 through August 15, 2022. We will spend
multiple nights at specific campgrounds. A preliminary list of activities includes, but is not limited to the

1.Travel to New Hampshire and camp
a. Hike up Mount Washington
b. Go kayaking and/or float trip
2. Travel to the Boston area and camp
a. Hike the Freedom Trail (Old North Church, Paul Revere’s House, Old Ironsides)
b. Visit Salem witch house
c. Fenway Park
d. Visit Lexington and Concord
3. Go whale watching in Cape Cod Bay
4. Travel to the Connecticut coast and camp
a. Visit Groton submarine museum
b. Visit Mystic Seaport
5. Visit the West Point area
a. Visit military museum
b. Visit Bear Mountain State Park (bridge, museum, zoo, Appalachian Trail)

The budget for the trip is still being worked out, but no more than $1200 per scout (adults may have a
slightly higher cost due to admission costs). The eligibility requirements for scouts will be the same as
the jamboree.

We need to know if scouts AND ADULTS are interested in making this trip. We need to have a definite
answer listing those scouts and adults interested by September 21 so we can start planning if there is
interest. Adults will be needed to drive rented vans.

Please email Russ DeVore at [Click for member's page] and let him know if you are or are not interested.
