Missed the Council RR MB Camporee?

Steamtown National Historic Site in downtown Scranton PA offers a unique opportunity for scouts to earn the Railroading Merit Badge. They are hosting several merit badge workshops this summer, which include a trip on historic railroad equipment through the Pocono Mountains to Gouldsboro PA and back. The price for the workshops is the price charged to the general public for their rail excursions to Gouldsboro PA and go to the maintenance and upkeep of the equipment.

Please see the information below or download the flyer, which includes all necessary information about the workshops.  Leaders who respond will be provided via email a pre-requisite worksheet which Scouts will need to complete before arriving on site.

Steamtown is always willing to work with individual units on the railroading merit badge during the rail operating season (typically late-April into early November), so those who cannot attend the workshop can call the site for more information.

For troops interested in camping, Lackawanna State Park is conveniently located off I-81, about 15 miles north of Scranton.

Steamtown National Historic Site is a unit of the National Park Service, with the mission to further public understanding and appreciation of the development of steam railroading and its culture in the United States, as well as to preserve, protect and enhance the site's rolling stock and artifacts for future generations.
