Columbia-Montour Council Refund Policy

Columbia-Montour Council provides a variety of programs and activities for Scouts, as well as a full camping program at the council’s Camp Lavigne. Because holding these programs and activities involves expenses related to facilities, food and supplies, registration fees are collected. Advance registration -- and, in most cases, a deposit -- is required to enable accurate planning and ensure the safety and well-being of the Scouts attending.

Since illness and other emergencies can sometimes prevent Scouts from participating in an activity or program for which they have registered, this Refund and Payment Policy has been adopted by the Executive Board of Columbia-Montour Council.

Refunds

  • All requests for refund of registration fees must be made in writing by mail, email or fax to the Columbia-Montour Council. Unless specifically noted in activity materials, request for a refund must be made no later than 15 days after the date of the activity or program.
  • Refunds generally will be issued only because of accident, illness, death in the immediate family; family relocation or a mandatory summer school- related issue. “No Shows” will not receive a refund. Other extenuating circumstances will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
  • All refunds must be approved by the Scout Executive.
  • Deposits are non-refundable. However, deposits may be transferable to another participant who takes the place of the person who cannot attend.
  • Refunds or transfers will not be granted for those who register for an event and choose to arrive late or depart early.
  • Registration fees cannot be rolled-over to another camp, event or activity that occurs at a later time.

Submitting a Refund Request

All refund requests and/or cancellations must be made in writing by mail, email or fax and received at the Columbia-Montour Boy Scout Council Office. Submit all requests to:

Scout Executive
Columbia-Montour Council BSA
5 Audubon Court
Bloomsburg, PA 17815

Event Cancellation or Postponement

  • If the activity is cancelled by the Council or District, a full refund will be issued.
  • If the activity is postponed to another date and the participant is not able to attend on the new date, any refund will be determined on a case-by-case basis by the Scout Executive.

Refund Policy for Unit Camp Reservation Fee

The initial $100 unit camp reservation fee is the fee that secures your unit’s place at camp. This is the fee due at the time your unit signs up for a spot at summer camp and does not apply to individual camper fees. This initial unit camp reservation fee is not refundable under any circumstances.

Scout Store Returns

Items purchased at the Scout Store can be returned with the receipt for a full refund within 30 days of purchase as long as tags have not been removed from the item.
